Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is Books with the Word [X] in the Title. Inspired by two of Douglas Bruton’s books, I’ve chosen the word ‘Blue’. Links will take you to my reviews.
- Blue Postcards by Douglas Bruton
- Woman in Blue by Douglas Bruton
- China Blue by Madalyn Morgan
- Blue Shoes and Happiness by Alexander McCall Smith
- The Boy With Blue Trousers by Carol Jones
- Monopoli Blues by Tim Clark & Nick Cook
- The Blue by Nancy Bilyeau
- Prussian Blue by Phillip Kerr
- Bluebird, Bluebird by Attica Locke
- The Blue Room by Georges Simenon

Bluebird, Bluebird is a great book. Must pick up the sequel soon! Here’s my TTT for this week: https://damppebbles.com/2025/04/29/toptentuesday-29th-april-2025/

Love reading these challenges. It’s a way of finding new treasures in unexpected places. I also love Georges Simenon’s writing so The Blue Room is now in my must-buy list, especially after reading your review on Goodreads. Is it a Maigret novel?

No it’s not but highly recommended. My review was succinct: ‘Forget Gone Girl, this is how you write a psychological thriller. Taut, tense and stylish.’

One of the prompts for the 52 Book Club is a book with “Blue” in the title. I will check these out to see which one I might like to read.

There were so many I nearly went with but I wanted to try something that perhaps no-one else would have thought of.

Yes, Blue isn’t a word in all that many books, so you succeeded!
