Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is Titles With Names Of Places In Them. As a distraction from the gloom or the elation those of you across the Atlantic may be feeling following recent events, I’ve confined myself to places in the United States. (Thank goodness for Google.) Links from the titles will take you to my review or the book description on Goodreads.
- The Fortunes of Olivia Richmond by Louise Davidson [State capital of Virginia]
- The Paris Peacemakers by Flora Johnston [City in Texas]
- Munich Wolf by Rory Clements [City in North Dakota]
- The Last Party at Silverton Hall by Rachel Burton [Town in Colorado]
- Greenwich Park by Katherine Faulkner [Town in Connecticut]
- The Reading Party by Fenella Gentleman [City in Pennsylvania]
- The Dublin Railway Murder by Thomas Morris [City in Ohio]
- Revenge of Rome by Simon Scarrow [City in Georgia]
- Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont by Elizabeth Taylor [City in California]
- The Night Train to Berlin by Melanie Hudson [City in New Hampshire]

Now this is clever!

Right now, I’d like a faraway destination, maybe Japan!

I am definitely NOT trying to do one with Japanese place names LOL

I never realised that there were so many towns in the US named after other parts of the world, Cathy. Great post. 💖📚

I love this idea! I haven’t read any of these books before but they look interesting. I love the cover for The Last Party at Silverton Hall 🙂

I was surprised by some of the names, including Silverton. I just browsed Goodreads and waited until I came across a title that looked possible.

Man, nothing shows how we Americans steal everything like the list of locations you used. Without most of your explanations, I would have assumed these were European locations (and like I’m pretty sure in the books themselves they are). I hope you have a great week.

Quite a lot were a surprise to me. I just browsed Goodreads and thought to myself, I wonder if that could be a place in the USA?
