Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is Book Titles Featuring Ordinal Numbers, a topic suggested by Joanne at Portobello Book Blog. This was unexpectedly tough. Despite a thorough search of my bookshelves I was only able to come up with a couple. Forced therefore to go off at a tangent, here are ten books I’ve read which are between first and tenth in their series. They happen to all be historical fiction. Links from each title will take you to my review.
- Odin’s Game (The Whale Road Chronicles #1) by Tim Hodkinson
- A Pretender’s Murder (Eric Peterkin #2) by Christopher Huang
- Commander (Agricola #3) by Simon Turney
- The Map of Bones (The Joubert Chronicles #4) by Kate Mosse
- Hemlock Bay (Rachel Savernake #5) by Martin Edwards
- Sister Rosa’s Rebellion (The Meonbridge Chronicles #6) by Carolyn Hughes
- Tombland (Matthew Shardlake #7) by C. J. Sansom
- A Cold Wind From Moscow (Tom Wilde #8) by Rory Clements
- Forest of Foes (Bernicia Chronicles #9) by Matthew Harffy
- Devotio (Legionary #10) by Gordon Doherty

This is an inspired twist – bravo!

‘Desperate’ twist more like. I came across quite a few books that I might have included in the original topic but of course only afterwards!

I’m impressed by authors who can write ten-book series.

There’s a series I didn’t include – by Simon Scarrow – that’s at least 23 books long!

This week’s theme was a tough one. I thought about just sharing one series, and leaving it at that.
Here’s my TTT for the week: https://readbakecreate.com/first-or-last-book-titles/

Agreed. As is often the case I thought of loads I could have included that met the topic but only afterwards.

Great way to do this list. I haven’t read any of them.

Now that was a good “twist” or “tweak” of the topic. Nice job!

I like ‘tweak’. I’d have said ‘desperate’ or ‘cop out’.

Nice twist on the topic! I featured historical fiction on my list today, too. It’s one of my favorite genres.
Happy TTT!
