Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
For this week’s Top Ten Tuesday we’re invited to share our Goals for 2026. Just about all of mine are linked to books in some way.
- Make the most of the experience of being one of the judges of the Winston Graham Historical Prize 2026, the shortlist for which was announced on 19th January 2026
- Achieve my Goodreads goal of reading 104 books
- Read at least 20 books that have been in my TBR pile for longer than two years, i.e. January 2024 or prior
- Attend Henley Literary Festival and at least one other literary event
- Complete the When Are You Reading Challenge – sign-up post here – and Historical Fiction Reading Challenge – sign-up post here
- Read all the books on The Walter Scott Prize 2026 longlist before the shortlist is announced
- Maintain my 97% feedback ratio on NetGalley
- Read at least ten books from my Classics Club list
- Listen to twelve audiobooks
- Contribute to the weekly #SixOnSaturday gardening meme
What bookish goals, if any, have you set for 2026?

The first one strikes me as the most important. Good luck!

Good luck with your goals. It might be a bit of a trek for you but I’d definitely recommend Whitby lit fest, it was held for the first time last year and was a fabulous event.

My husband’s godson lives in Whitby so you might be on to something there.

Thanks. To be honest I was gobsmacked to be asked and I’m now starting to realise what a tough decision it’s going to be. I’m just about to start re-reading the entire shortlist and hoping one will stand out I can advocate for.

I love book festivals. I find it easy to strike up conversations even if you go on your own because you all share the same interest.

You have such exciting goals, Cathy, especially that first one. Hopefully, you can share more about that experience. Wishing you the best of luck with your goals.

Thanks. I was thrilled to be asked to be a judge, especially since there are some highly regarded authors on the panel. Now I’m starting to realise it will involve a very tough decision because I like all the shortlisted books in different ways!

Good luck with all your goals! I especially like the reading at least 20 books that have been on your TBR pile for longer than two years. I might need to steal that one…

I nearly got there last year plus it overlaps with my Classics Club goal.

Wow, your NG ratio is impressive! Mine is at 5%. Ha ha. I really need to stop requesting more books than I could ever read in a lifetime. The struggle is real. Good luck with all of your goals!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

I had the same urge as you when I first started, got carried away with requesting books even though there was no way I was going to be able to read them all before publication – or ever! Learned my lesson the hard way and now I only request a new title once I’ve reviewed one from my shelf. Still needs a lot of discipline though…

I’ve just started using Netgalley, so the ratio is still new to me, but I hope you maintain yours. 104 books is a hefty goal (for me), but I’m sure you’ll smash it. I hope you achieve all your goals 😊.

104 is quite a hefty goal for me too but I find setting a challenging target helps me focus on carving out reading time. Stop scrolling on my phone and pick up a book!

Congrats on getting to be a judge! I love the goal of going to at least one literary festival… I’m going to add that to my list too!
