#TopTenTuesday Books About Hobbies #TuesdayBookBlog

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.

The rules are simple:

  • Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
  • Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
  • Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
  • Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Non-Bookish Freebie. I’ve strayed a little from the ‘non-bookish’ requirement with a list of books that involve hobbies. Things you might do when you’re not reading, if you like. Links from the title will take you to my review.

  1. A Single Thread by Tracy Chevalier – embroidery
  2. Secrets of the Bees by Jane Johnson – beekeeping
  3. The Sewing Machine by Natalie Fergie – sewing
  4. Sweetness in the Skin by Ishi Robinson – baking
  5. The Endeavour of Elsie Mackay by Flora Johnston – flying
  6. The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert – botany
  7. The Hidden Bones by Nicola Ford – archaeology
  8. The Instrumentalist by Harriet Constable – music
  9. The Square of Sevens by Laura Shepherd-Robinson – fortune-telling
  10. The Binding by Bridget Collins – bookbinding

  1. Great choices, Cathy. I will keep a few of these in mind when I’m looking for books on certain topics. I still need to listen to The Instrumentalist.

  2. I really like this approach – a little bit bookish, a little bit not bookish. One of my reading goals this year was to read more books that can help me develop my skills or (non-bookish) interest. I’m not doing to hot on it yet, but we’ve still got a couple of months…
