Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Non-Bookish Freebie. I’ve strayed a little from the ‘non-bookish’ requirement with a list of books that involve hobbies. Things you might do when you’re not reading, if you like. Links from the title will take you to my review.
- A Single Thread by Tracy Chevalier – embroidery
- Secrets of the Bees by Jane Johnson – beekeeping
- The Sewing Machine by Natalie Fergie – sewing
- Sweetness in the Skin by Ishi Robinson – baking
- The Endeavour of Elsie Mackay by Flora Johnston – flying
- The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert – botany
- The Hidden Bones by Nicola Ford – archaeology
- The Instrumentalist by Harriet Constable – music
- The Square of Sevens by Laura Shepherd-Robinson – fortune-telling
- The Binding by Bridget Collins – bookbinding

I kept to books too! I went with Natural World, and I also feature a books about bees.

Glad I wasn’t the only ‘disobedient’ one!

You’ve obviously heard the buzz about it. Or you could buy a copy from Hive… but don’t get stung.

I admire sewing, but I’ve never had the patience to do it. 😂

Great choices, Cathy. I will keep a few of these in mind when I’m looking for books on certain topics. I still need to listen to The Instrumentalist.

I really like this approach – a little bit bookish, a little bit not bookish. One of my reading goals this year was to read more books that can help me develop my skills or (non-bookish) interest. I’m not doing to hot on it yet, but we’ve still got a couple of months…

Lovely list here, and a very original way to make a non-bookish topic still bookish!

I’ll take ‘original’, some might say ‘disobedient’
