Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Mainstream Popular Authors That I Still Have Not Read, a topic suggested by Rissa at Pretentious Reader. Prepare yourself for a shock horror list.
- Stephen King – I’m a scaredy cat, why would I want to give myself nightmares?
- J K Rowling – Books involving magic don’t appeal to me although I can see myself – possibly – reading one of her Cormoran Strike books
- Richard Osman – Just too cosy for me
- Lee Child – I’m partial to an action thriller now and again but have never read one of his
- Taylor Jenkins Reid – Never say never…
- Ken Follett – As a fan of historical fiction I probably should have read one of his books but I can’t get past the fact they’re doorstoppers
- Colleen Hoover – Not a fan of contemporary romance
- Matt Haig – This is my guilty one because I think I actually might enjoy his books
- Lisa Jewell – I just know people will be screaming, ‘No way, you must try one of her books!’
- Suzanne Collins – Knock forty years off my age and there might be a chance, but not now

I’ve read one Taylor Jenkins Read (Daisy and the Six) for nostalgia’s sake but gave up another.

Now I’m curious what the one you gave up was?

It was Malibu Rising. Daisy was a brilliant holiday read, the kind you polish off happily and leave behind for another reader to find.

I have Richard Osman lined up, but as yet to read him. I will never read Rowling either. Started a Colleen Hoover and only read a few pages before giving up

I now fully justified about having those two in my list

We have a couple in common – Colleen Hoover and Lee Child. I would recommend Taylor Jenkins Reid especially The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I haven’t read a lot of Stephen King books as I’m also not into horror but his book 11:22:63 is excellent and not like his other books.

Forgot to add, I have read all the Harry Potter books! The Cormoran Strike books are very good too. The TV series of those is great.

Stephen King has been on so many lists this week!
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

Casual Vacancy was quite good too.

Cathy I have read many of these authors. Lisa Jewell is a favorite of mine. I’ve enjoyed reading Ken Follett, Stephen King (his earlier work), Matt Haig, and Rowling’s Cormoran Strike series. 😘

So I pretty much chose all the authors you like!

You could try Verity by Hoover if you like thrillers. I love TJR’s books.

I have read many of these authors too, Cathy. Stephen King – Billy Summers and 11.22.63 are thrillers – absolutely nothing scary/supernatural in them. Just great writing.
J.K. Rowling – I was definitely not a magic fan, but my step-grandson talked me into reading the series with him a number of years ago and I fell in love. Her Cormoran strike series is also great. I’m currently reading Career of evil.
Richard Osman – have read and loved all of his Thursday Murder Club series and am looking forward to the new series he is bringing out about a father-in-law/daughter-in-law investigation team.
Taylor Jenkins Reid – I didn’t finish Daisy and the Six but have really enjoyed the other books I have read by her.
Ken Follett – I have read a couple of his, but my firm favorite is The Third Twin, which i have read three times so far (and will be reading again) and unreservedly recommend to everyone.
Lisa Jewell – ‘No way, you must try one of her books!’ I love her!
The other authors on your list I haven’t read either. 💕📚

Interesting! Think I only know CoHo. Her books can be a great read when interested in the romance genre for sure

I’ve read at least one book by six of these authors. Not bad! I also think Follett’s books sound interesting, but their size is definitely off-putting. I don’t know that I’ll ever take that plunge.
Happy TTT!

I had a hard time with this week’s prompt as I have read at least one book from so many authors. The only one I haven’t read is Lee Child. I had all his Jack Reacher books (in paperback) on my shelf upstairs, but recently gave them to a friend’s husband as I knew I would never read them. Nice list, Cathy.

Again, I’m surprised at how many of us put Hoover on our lists. She’s a “best seller” so someone is loving her books, but apparently not so much among us bloggers!

I did love The Hunger Games but then I did read them when I was 15 so pretty much the exact target age range! I loved Harry Potter when I was a kid, but I tend not to recommend JK Rowling anymore because of her transphobic views. I’ve only read one of Matt Haig’s books and I didn’t mind it, but it wasn’t a favourite. Taylor Jenkins Reid was also on my list this week.
