The When Are You Reading? Challenge is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and involves reading a book predominantly set in (or written in) each of twelve time periods. I’ve finally managed to match all twelve categories – yay! – although my list has changed a bit from my provisional one. Links from the titles will take you to my review.
Are you taking part in the challenge and, if so, how are you getting on?
Pre-1300: Masters of Rome (Rise of Emperor’s #2) by Gordon Doherty & Simon Turney
1300-1499: Children’s Fate (The Meonbridge Chronicles #4) by Carolyn Hughes
1500-1699: The Drowned City by K. J. Maitland
1700-1799: Daughters of Night by Laura Shepherd-Robinson
1800-1899: To The Dark by Chris Nickson
1900-1919: Mrs England by Stacey Halls
1920-1939: Game of the Gods by Paolo Maurensig
1940-1959: The Rose Code by Kate Quinn
1960-1979: The Unfortunate Englishman (Joe Wilderness #2) by John Lawton
1980-1999: Connectedness by Sandra Danby
2000-Present: Forgotten Lives by Ray Britain
The Future: The High-Rise Diver by Julia Von Lucadou, translated by Sharmila Cohen

Wow congratulations! Love the new look btw!

Thanks. Still playing around with it… designing banners is not my strong suit!

Well I don’t suppose there’s any rush!

Have you recently changed your theme? It looks different and very stylish. If so, was it difficult, did it cause problems with formatting, images, etc on blog posts?

Thanks I changed it last week. The only problem I’ve had is not posting to Facebook and not showing my Instagram and fb feeds. Other than that it was pretty easy.

That’s an ambitious challenge! I don’t know if I could do it, so brava to you for this! If I did, however, I have read almost all of the Earth’s Children books which are set in prehistoric times.

I’ve taken part for a couple of years as I read a lot of historical fiction. The category I always struggle with is ‘The Future’ as I hardly ever read SciFi or fantasy.

I hear you about that. I’m reading Doerr’s Cloud Cuckoo Land right now and the future bits are bringing me down… not sure I’ll finish reading it, to be honest.

Congratulations, Cathy. I have always been leery about taking this challenge on, so am so impressed with you completing this one.

If you read a lot of historical fiction anyway, like I do, it makes it easier. I’ve still got a couple of other challenges to try to finish before the end of the year.

I do enjoy historical fiction, but not as old as some of the timespans in the challenge.
