What’s In A Name Challenge 2023 – Sign Up

What's in a Name 2023The What’s In A Name Challenge is being hosted again for 2023 by Andrea at Carolina Book Nook.   I managed to complete the 2022 challenge with just a few days to spare.

The challenge runs from 1st January to 31st December 2023. You can sign up at any time but can only count books you read between those dates. Read a book in any format (hard copy, ebook, audio) with a title that fits into each category. (Andrea has provided some examples for each category on the challenge sign-up page.) You can’t use the same book for more than one category but creativity in matching the categories is not only allowed, it’s encouraged! You can choose your books as you go or make a list ahead of time.

I’ve made some provisional selections below, deliberately picking books that have been languishing in my TBR pile for way too long. Links from the title will take you to the book’s entry on Goodreads.  Once I’ve read them, I’ll replace this with a link to my review.

It’s a really fun challenge, so why not sign up to take part yourself?

7 Deadly Sins     Appetite by Philip Kazan

When Are You Reading? Challenge 2023 Sign-Up

when-are-you-reading-2023The When Are You Reading? Challenge is being hosted again in 2023 by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. It involves reading a book set in each of twelve time periods. Determining what year a book belongs in is the decision of the participant. On the whole, the rule is to choose a year where the largest part of the action occurs or the most important event.

You can see how I got on with the 2022 challenge here.

My provisional list for the 2023 challenge is below. There are a few gaps I still need to feel. Suggestions welcomed! I’ve deliberately tried to include books that have been in my TBR pile for way too long. Links from the title will take you to the book description on Goodreads or, once I’ve read them, to my review.

If you love historical fiction but often find yourself sticking to one or two favourite time periods, or if you’re keen to read more historical fiction in 2023, why not join me and sign up?
