Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Things That Make Me Instantly Want To Read A Book. I’m more of a planner than a mood reader so I’ll rarely just pick up a particular book on a whim. But there are some things that will make me instantly add a book to my wishlist:
- The next book in a series I’ve enjoyed
- A new book by a favourite author
- The first book in a new series by a favourite author
- An original sounding book in my favourite genre – historical fiction
- A book on a literary prize longlist/shortlist such as the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction
- A book from a publisher (especially indy) whose previous books I’ve enjoyed
- An enthusiastic review by a blogger who shares my reading tastes
- A great blurb – concise, intriguing and doesn’t give away too much away
- A book I’ve heard an author talk about at a literary festival
- A book recommended by an author whose books I enjoy
What makes you instantly want to read a book – or add it to your wishlist?
