Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Bookish Superpowers I Wish I Had, a topic suggested by… me! Full disclosure, I used this idea for the topic Bookish Jobs (Real or Imaginary) I Would Do For Free last year. Unfortunately, I’ve developed no additional superpowers since then, so I’m taking the easy route and just reproducing a slightly revised version here.
The ability to…
- Insert myself on any publisher’s list for proof copies
- Create an insightful review of every book I read without any effort at all
- Increase my reading speed at will but still recall every word of a book
- Detect whether I’m going to enjoy a book purely by looking at it
- Automatically create a beautiful Instagram post from an image in my head
- Have WordPress automatically share my blog posts to X (it will never catch on…)
- Have household tasks completed by an invisible servant while I’m reading
- Have books I really, really want to read have 90% off stickers on them (100% would be mean)
- Have every book I buy be pre-signed and personally dedicated to me by the author
- Never be interrupted while reading
What bookish super powers do you wish you had?

4, 5, 6, and 9 would be great! Especially 5 because I struggle with Instagram. Here’s my TTT: https://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2024/02/20/top-ten-tuesday-bookish-superpowers/

I love your number 3. That would be really useful for picking out gifts. I’d give it other people as well so they could safely buy me books!

Omg #1—yes! This ability totally slipped my mind but it would be magic, especially as an international reader that gets very limited arc access! And omg, #6. I wish they hadn’t done away with that one. So irritating that we have to manually share it now. 😂 Thanks for suggesting this very fun topic today!

Great thought about number 1 needing to be international.

The Instagram one would be great. I pretty much quit Instagram because I’m so bad at photography. 🙂

I try but I’m pretty rubbish at it. I obviously don’t own enough candles, pretty crockery or flower petals!

Oooh, #7 is a great idea! The number of times I’ve had to stop reading in order to clean the house / make dinner / move the laundry to the dryer / etc…

I know some people swear by audiobooks as a way to multitask but I can’t do that. Anyone I’d probably end up putting the dinner in the dryer and the laundry in the oven because I was distracted.

LOL! I can’t do anything too complex while listening to an audiobook, but I can at least fold my laundry. 🙂

Being able to write a review without any effort sounds lovely. Writing is hard.

It is. Imagine having to write a whole book!

Nice topic recommendation! #6 would be soooo helpful. I hate that the option went away when things changed.

Me too. I often forget to do it until hours after my post has been published.

These are all great superpowers. I put a similar one about writing reviews. Never being interrupted while reading, yes, I think we would all love that.

Someone came up with the idea of an invisible forcefield that repels other people (gently, I’m sure) when you’re reading. I liked that one.

Having an invisible servant do household chores while you read is genius!!

Unless we go into solitary confinement, it’s not going to happen is it?

Sadly, I don’t see it happening without the solitary confinement.

Never be interrupted when I’m reading…including when my brain just wanders and gets off track! Great list. 😀

That’s a great thought. Also, sometimes I look up from a book and see something that needs doing.

Yes! It would be nice if I could finally (or ever) get my house clean enough where I look up and see I don’t have to do something. LOL!

Love this topic, great idea! I’d love to be able to make/write/submit good reviews as well.
PS WordPress use to share to X (aka Twitter) but now it says it no longer works. 😦

I understand Twitter wanted too much money for WordPress to do it anymore. Blame Elon Musk

I seriously love this list! It’s so creative, and I can honestly say that I would be thrilled with any of the superpowers on this list. Although being able to get any proofs I want might be a problem for my bookcases, which are already overflowing 🤣📚
