Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Bookish Goals For 2024. I love setting reading goals. Achieving them? Well, that’s a different matter…
Achieve my Goodreads target of reading 104 books (I didn’t hit my target of 120 books last year so I’ve set a target I think is more realistic).- Read at least 25 books that have been in my TBR pile for longer than two years, i.e. they were acquired prior to 1st January 2022.
Attend Henley Literary Festival and, if possible, at least one other literary festival in person.- Complete the When Are You Reading? Challenge 2024.
Complete the What’s in a Name Challenge 2024- Complete the 20 Books of Summer 2024 reading challenge.
Complete the Historical Fiction Reading Challenge 2024- Read all the books on The Walter Scott Prize 2024 shortlist before the winner is announced.
- Complete my Backlist Burrow challenge (that I started in 2023) by reading the remaining books I chose from the backlists of six authors.
- Maintain a 95%+ feedback ratio on NetGalley.
Do you have any book-related goals for 2024?

We have a few in common including reading more of our own books! My list will be out later this morning.

A literary festival sounds so fun. I hope you’re able to attend. Best of luck on your goals!

My nearest literary festival is only a half hour bus ride away so I’m luck in that respect.

I try to use reading challenges to target books that have been too long in my TBR pile.

Great goals. I would love to attend a literary festive or something similar one day, but there are none near me. Good luck with these.

I’m lucky to have one near me and that has grown into something quite big.

I want to read more of the older books on my TBR too, but 25 books that have been on your TBR for two years sounds so intimidating to me. I love that your goals are so specific, I need to get more specific with mine! Good luck for all of them!

I only seem to be motivated by specific objectives. I used to work as a project manager and it seems you can take the girl out of project management but not the project management out of the girl!

I didn’t meet my Goodreads challenge last year either, but I was close! I’m trying for the same number this year. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

Good luck with your goals, Cathy.
I am working at whittling down my backlist and being more selective with what I request.💕📚

Those are some interesting goals and challenges! And I’m trying to go only with one per category! 😂
But now that I think of it, why not mixing it up? Hmm!
Anyway, enjoy participating! Might join with a list of goals!

Wow, that’s an impressive NetGalley ratio you’ve got! Mine is absolutely abysmal (4%). I’ll never catch up. Ha ha. Good luck with your goals!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Great idea to attack the older books on your TBR or knock them off and wave bye-bye!

You’ve got some great goals for the year, Cathy! I decided not to take part in reading challenge this year after doing so many last year, but if I did, I would definitely join the Historical Fiction Reading Challenge. It’s been awhile since I took part in the What’s in a Name challenge, but that one is always fun. Good luck with your goals this year!

I would love to attend a literary event. But they’re either too expensive, too far away, or sold out before I find out about them.
