Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Books That Would Make Great Newspaper Headlines, a topic suggested by. . . me! What a great idea, I thought when I submitted it. What a tricky topic, I thought once I sat down to come up with my list. . .
Links from the titles will take you to the book description on Goodreads or my review.
Firstly, today’s political news:
- One of Our Ministers Is Missing by Alan Johnson (Let’s hope it’s the Home Secretary)
- The King’s Speech by Mark Logue and Peter Conradi (Topical or what?)
Now, over to our crime reporter:
- News of the Dead by James Robertson
- My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
- Elizabeth Is Missing by Emma Healey
- A Murder Is Announced by Agatha Christie
Next, to our environment correspondent:
- The Year Without Summer by Guinevere Glasfurd
- The Coming Darkness by Greg Mosse
- The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak
And finally, the funny item:
- The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon

Great choices. I especially like THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME

A great suggestion! I did find it challenging, but I enjoyed looking through all my titles and picking out what I hoped would do! I love the way that you have done your list and wish that I had done something similar!
Have a great week!

It was a great prompt. I wish I had thought to put my thoughts down on what stories would go with the titles!

One of Our Ministers is Missing… ugh, any of them going missing would be an improvement! Excellent choice — let’s manifest what we wish to see. 😛

Indeed. I think quite a few of them might go missing pretty soon although, would we notice?

This is a great topic! I had fun with it. I like how you broke your titles into groups. I should have done that, but for some reason, I was only thinking in terms of hard news. Sometimes I take these topics way too literally 🙂
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

What a clever and entertaining list! 😄 I love how you’ve organized it into different categories. The political headlines caught my eye, especially “One of Our Ministers Is Missing”. Your crime reporter section is intriguing, and “My Sister, the Serial Killer” sounds like a thrilling headline. Great job on this unique and imaginative topic – Looking forward to more Top Ten Tuesdays!
