Six on Saturday is a weekly meme originally hosted by The Propagator but now in the tender care of Jim at Garden Ruminations. If you can find the time, check out the posts of other participants by following the links in the comments section of Jim’s post – or share your own six.
Given we’re now in meteorological autumn, my six focuses on faded beauty and the last hurrahs of summer:
One – (Below, left) – A sead head of Allium sphaerocephalon.
Two – (Below, top right) – Sweet peas left to go to seed (or not picked in time)
Three – (Below, bottom right) – A drooping sunflower having given its all.
Four – (Below, left) – The wildflower patch: a few flowers left to the delight of pollinators, but mostly ready to drop seed for next year.
Five – (Below, top right) – After a very slow start it’s been a bumper year for climbing French beans (the variety is ‘Cobra’).
Six – (Below, bottom right) – Berries starting to form on holly even as we experience a September heatwave.

Courgettes aplenty in this house!

Your beans look tasty! I’ve just been collecting some seed from the garden, however summery it might feel I’ve definitely got my autumn head on.

It does seem incongruous to see holly berries in the middle of a heatwave!

An excellent crop of beans! It definitely was a very slow start for them this year, and I only ever got enough to make one stir fry. Guess there’s always next year. I’m glad that you had better luck!
