Six on Saturday is a weekly meme hosted by The Propagator. If you’d like to join in you can find more details here.
As it was cool, windy and overcast yesterday most of this week’s selection are from inside.
- The courgettes – ‘Lemona’ (yellow), ‘Romanesco Latino’ (ribbed) and ‘Modena’ (dark green) – are romping away and may need repotting before the weather is warm enough for them to be planted outside.
- The ‘Chocolate Cherry’ tomatoes have had brief trips outside during the day but I’m not yet confident it’s warm enough overnight to transfer them to our unheated greenhouse.
- Five out of six sweetcorn seeds I sowed have made an appearance. I can’t work out if the sixth one just didn’t take or I forgot to plant a seed in that pot!
4. Narcissus ‘Sealing Wax’ still putting on a cheery show.
5. Only recently planted and still very small but already Azalea Variegata ‘Hotshot’ is living up to its name.
6. To mark the National Trust’s ‘Blossom Watch’ today, blossom on the cherry tree and, in the background, on the crab apple.
Enjoy your garden or outside space this week.

“or I forgot to plant a seed in that pot”
That would so be me π³.

I think it definitely was me. I probably got distracted by putting the label in. The replacement seed is catching up its older brothers/sisters

This reminds me that I need to get some courgettes on their way. Thank you, all looking good.I planted some sweetcorn out the other day (the sun was shining) now it’s gone cool and windy. I hope mine survive

I hope so too. Next week it looks as if the nights will get less cold.

Seeing your seeds at such an advanced stage has given me seedling envy. I have yet to sow mine. Last year cool weather in May when I put the plants out wiped out my lot, so I am leaving sowing till the start of May instead.

Mine are definitely not going anywhere near outside until the nights get less cold, hopefully that will be next week if you go by the weather forecast. I only have an unheated greenhouse so even there is too cold at night to risk them and I can’t be faff about with a paraffin heater in there.
