I’ve been making the most of the good weather by sitting outside reflecting on what’s already been achieved and pondering what needs doing next.
- The Triumph tulips which were predominantly pastel colours have been joined by some brightly coloured companions.
- Narcissus ‘Ice Follies
- The courgettes – ‘Lemona’ (yellow), ‘Romanesco Latino’ (ribbed) and ‘Modena’ (dark green) – which were only compost-filled pots a couple of weeks ago are coming along well
4. ‘Rocket’ potatoes starting to show themselves.
5. Blossom on a mini cherry tree against a backdrop of the ornamental quince which continues to flower away.
6. The book I’m currently reading – Mr Bunting At War by Robert Greenwood – first published in 1941 but now available in a new edition as part of the Imperial War Museum’s Wartime Classics series. Mr B’s war efforts initially comprise digging for victory and reluctantly erecting a dugout in the garden.
