Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want. Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post. Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists. Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Characters Whose Job I Wish I Had. As I was a little short of time this week, I’ve taken an easier route and gathered together a list of books with occupations in their title. Links from the titles will take you to the book description on Goodreads or my review.
The Cornish Dressmaker by Nicola Pryce
The Draughtsman by Robert Lautner
The Clockmaker’s Daughter by Kate Morton
The Diplomat’s Wife by Michael Ridpath
The Philosopher’s Daughters by Alison Booth
A Prince and A Spy by Rory Clements
The Stationmaster’s Daughter by Kathleen McGurl
The Jeweller by Caryl Lewis
The Assassin of Verona by Benet Brandreth
The Cleaner of Chartres by Salley Vickers
Verona or Chartres sound nice. Let’s face it, anywhere beyond the end of our gardens would at the moment. However, I’m not sure I’m keen on the roles involved or have the necessary qualifications. Do any of these occupations take your fancy?

Great list! This prompt was hard wasn’t it? I thought of a lot of interesting jobs but none that I think I’d particularly want to do myself!

I think being a diplomat would be quite interesting. And, yeah, this week’s topic was a little tough.

About the only job on this list I’m qualified for is cleaner and that’s kind of what I do already! Dishes, laundry, scrubbing toilets … yep, that’s my very glamorous life right there 🙂
Happy TTT!

Great post!! I’m interested by a Prince and a spy I might check it out… I like your take on the ttt – I was pretty stuck but in the end I went for a quiz on jobs from fantasy books. See how many you get! https://hundredsandthousandsofbooks.blog/2021/03/02/ttt-guess-the-fantasy-jobs-but-they-get-more-and-more-obscure/

I’ve always wanted to be an assassin. Lol.

Yes, well… I’m not sure I’d want to be just the wife or daughter of these professions; but I might want to be one of those professions in my own right.
