Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want. Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post. Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists. Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Resolutions/Hopes for 2021. My list contains nine book-related resolutions with a common theme of getting up-to-date, and one hope that I expect a lot of you will share.
- Read the remaining 7 books on my Classics Club list
- Complete the What’s In A Name and When Are You Reading? challenges
- Take part in the 20 Books of Summer reading challenge
- Read and review the 24 books (oh dear!) on my NetGalley shelf with publication dates prior to 31st December 2020
- Retain my 80% plus feedback ratio on NetGalley
- Read the books on The Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction 2021 shortlist before the winner is announced
- Read and review the 7 books won from Readers First that were published prior to 31st December 2020
- Reduce the number of titles on my To Read shelf on Goodreads from 857 to 500 – or fewer!
- Read and review the remaining 6 books received from authors before I stopped accepting new review requests
- Attend a literary festival, ideally Henley Literary Festival, in person
What are your resolutions (if any) or hopes for 2021?

Good luck, Cathy!

These are some very good goals! I too hope to get to 80% ratio on Netgalley this year, on top of making a huge dent on my TBR shelf, at least the books I have in my physical selves. Happy reading!

Those are quite some goals! I feel you on the overfull Goodreads shelf. I regularly declutter them but it seems to have a mind of its own haha. Wishing you the best of luck with all of these 🙂

I’m determined to add books to my Goodreads To Read shelf that I’m “desperate” to read rather than just mildly interested in and to clear out those already there that fall into the latter category. I’ve a feeling it will be pretty satisfying to do so 😁

Yes exactly! Sounds like a great plan 🙂

Good luck for 2021! I am so glad that I’m not alone in having a massive number of TBRs.

Occupational hazard of being a bookworm and bookblogger I guess. Haha, autocorrect on my tablet just suggested “backlogged” for “bookblogger” 😁

Oh yes I am definitely ‘backlogged’! Haha 😂

I wish you luck. These sound like huge goals, almost like lifetime goals, to me, but perhaps they are more doable for you. I’m very glad to hear you plan to continue 20 Books of Summer.

Good luck with your goals! I highly doubt Ontario will be able to have in-person literary festivals this year due to our abysmal Covid-19 numbers, but my fingers are crossed for 2022. 🙂

I want to finally get to 80% on Netgalley, I’ve been trying for the last couple of years without success!

Good luck! I’m trying to buy books only from independent bookshops too or direct from small publishers as well.

Thank you! I buy most of my books from Waterstones, which is a big chain bookshop here in the UK (but is a lot better than buying from Amazon) but I do try to buy some from indies as well.

I buy from Waterstones as well, especially when they have double loyalty points offers like recently!

Ah tell me about it, I got 4 preorders on the double stamps offer!

I always try to keep my TBR at only 500 books. Sometimes it goes a bit over, but then I start eliminating again. I can get harsh!
Good luck with all you have planned, I’m sure you will be fine and be able to manage it.

Great list! I need to work on getting my TBR down (theres definitely some that’s been there for more than two year! Oops.) and good luck with your NetGalley target! I’d already done this prompt in another post so I had a go at my top ten favourite albums lol. You seem like you’d have good taste in music, what are yours? Here are mine 😊 https://hundredsandthousandsofbooks.blog/2021/01/12/ttt-12-1-top-ten-albums/

These are all great goals! I hope that I can attend a few literary events in person this year as well. I miss the days when a bunch of like-minded book lovers could get together to appreciate literature.

Yes, there’s nothing like getting chatting to another book lover or meeting an author in person. Fingers crossed!

Definitely a great way to clean up what’s left of your 2020 goals. I might just look at what I have left and do the same thing.
Good luck with your goals!
