Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Cosy/Wintry Reads. I’ve chosen five books I think make suitable reading for cold winter nights and five books that would be perfect for conjuring up thoughts of the exact opposite, namely long summer evenings. Click on the book title to read my review.
Cold winter nights
Magical Mysteries
Once Upon A River by Diane Setterfield
The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey
Heartwarming Christmas Tales
Miss Marley by Vanessa Lafaye
A Ration Book Christmas by Jean Fullerton
Days Gone By
An Edwardian Christmas by John S. Goodall
Long summer evenings
Tremarnock Summer by Emma Burstall
Under A Tuscan Sky by Karen Aldous
The Summer Springsteen’s Songs Saved Me by Barbara Quinn
Joseph Barnaby by Susan Roebuck
The Summer of Impossible Things by Rowan Coleman

I love how you split up the list into winter and summer reads. As I made my list, I was thinking about summer reads and how I don’t really have fall or spring reads…

Too many books to add on my TBR from this list… THanks for sharing them Cathy. 🙂 💖

The Snow Child is a GREAT choice, really sums up that wintry feeling. If you like ‘days gone by’-style stories have you tried The Box of Delights? It’s a Christmassy children’s classic.

A Ration Book Christmas sounds like a great read. World War II was a rough chapter in human history even for people lucky enough not to be drafted to the front lines.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

What I’m getting most about this weeks theme is that I REALLY need to read The Snow Child and Once Upon a River! Great picks. They all sound super good!

I missed this one when you did it. So good to find another fan of John Goddall’s Edwardian picture books. I have nearly all of them now.

I only have the Christmas one and Edwardian Summer. Are there many more?

Yes! A whole bunch–all as delightful as the ones you have https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Strickland_Goodall

Oh my, you’ve given me a whole lot more books to look out for next time I’m browsing in a second-hand bookshop 😁
