Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Backlist Books I Want to Read. How long have you got? I have so many books in my TBR pile that I decided to take a #shelfie of ten books published prior to 2018 on my ‘waiting to be read’ bookshelf and use that to create my list.

(I’m rather embarrassed that so many of them are review copies I’ve not yet got around to reading and reviewing on my blog. Lovely publishers, I will read them soon…promise!)
Click on the title to view the book description on Goodreads.
Deposed by David Barbaree – review copy courtesy of Bonnier Zaffre
The Assassin of Verona by Benet Brandreth – review copy courtesy of Bonnier Zaffre
The Dark Isle by Clare Carson – review copy courtesy of Head of Zeus
The Summer House Party by Caro Fraser – review copy courtesy of Head of Zeus
Munich by Robert Harris – Christmas present
Pompeii by Robert Harris – charity shop purchase
The Body in the Ice by A. J. MacKenzie – review copy courtesy of Bonnier Zaffre
Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult – giveaway prize
Sugar in the Blood by Andrea Stuart – purchase
The Dog Walker (The Detective’s Daughter #5) by Lesley Thomson – review copy courtesy of Head of Zeus
What books from the backlist are you eager to read?

I have Deposed as well but still haven’t gotten around it either. It sounds good, though.

Poor old Deposed…You’re the second person to make the same comment today!

I took it on holiday with me but never got around to picking it up. I really want to read it because I love all things Roman but the amount of pages is currently putting me off a little.

I find the side effect of doing a list like this is that I start moving books to the top of my TBR pile that were languishing well down it before…

Ha ha yeah I reason with myself why I have to move things around lol

Sometimes I find that review books don’t work for me. It is hard for me to let go of something I really thought I wanted to read.

Luckily for me, all the books I got as review copies mentioned in my blog post I also took part in blog tours for (hosting extracts, Q&As, etc). I never sign up for a blog tour unless I’m pretty sure I’ll like the book as it’s a personal rule not to promote on my blog a book I wouldn’t consider reading myself (I don’t want to be just the equivalent of an advertising hoarding). So I’m hoping I’ll like them all when I get to read them.

I’d have to vote for the Jodi Picoult – I haven’t read any others.

Confession coming up…I’ve never read anything by her so this will be my first when I get round to it.

I haven’t got any of these books on my backlist, but I have read Munich, Pompeii and The Body in the Ice and can recommend each of them – I thoroughly enjoyed each one.

You’ve made me even more eager to read them now. Really, to keep us ‘honest’, we need a Top Ten Tuesday topic a few months from now – Books on my Backlist I Said I’d Read and I Did!

The Body in the Ice sounds like a good read.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

Munich is on my list. I did this post not long ago so I skipped it today and did a Nonfiction November post instead.

I’ve just decided (rather belatedly) to take part in Nonfiction November and my post is coming shortly.

Oh man, I have anxiety because I currently am late on ONE book for review
…. I hope you get around to reading your books soon. I had a hard time narrowing down my backlist for this week, so decided to just focus on horror books – and those I should’ve read ages ago!

I haven’t read any of these before. I think I’ve heard of Munich and Pompeii before and they sound good.
