Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the lovely ladies at The Broke and the Bookish. The feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists and love to share lists with other bookish folk.
The rules are simple:
- Each week they post a new Top Ten list topic.
- Everyone is welcome to join. All they ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
This week’s topic is Top Ten Books on My Fall TBR List – a great excuse to look forward to all the bookish treats in store in the next few months.
Here’s my list – click on the title to read the Goodreads blurb.
1) Maria in the Moon by Louise Beech – I’ve been hearing so many wonderful things about this so I can’t wait to read it, especially as I’m on the blog tour in a week or so’s time!
2) Birdcage Walk by Helen Dunmore – I’ve had this ARC from NetGalley for simply ages but since it’s not published until October it’s kind of got left behind in my reading list. The author comes highly recommended so I’m looking forward to this one.
3) Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders – This has made the shortlist for the Man Booker Prize 2017 and I know it is an absolute favourite of a lot of people. I’m going to try to read it before the winner is announced.
4) A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman – Sometimes you feel like you’re the last person on earth to read a particular book and I feel a bit like this with this one. My local independent cinema is showing the film adaptation shortly so I’m determined to read it before seeing the film.
5) Woman Enters Left by Jessica Brockmole – I was contacted to be on the blog tour for this book and was intrigued by the description. I love the idea of the dual timeline and the Hollywood element.
6) The Book of Forgotten Authors by Christopher Fowler – I read a review of this a while book and thought it sounded really interesting. Luckily I then got invited to join the blog tour and, from just flicking through it, I’m sure I’m going to love it. I have been warned it may trigger a tsunami of additions to your TBR pile!
7) Eureka by Anthony Quinn – I’ve a couple of Anthony Quinn’s previous books on my wishlist so when I saw this one on NetGalley I couldn’t resist requesting it.
8) New Boy by Tracy Chevalier – I’ve enjoyed all the previous books I’ve read by Tracy Chevalier and I’m really intrigued by the idea of rewriting Shakespeare plays.
9) A Legacy of Spies by John le Carre – I love John le Carre’s books and I think I’ve read just about all of them. The opportunity to read something new by the master of the spy novel can’t be passed up.
10) The Summer of Impossible Things by Rowan Coleman – I won this book in a giveaway a few months ago and it has been sitting on my bookshelf since then, silently enticing me with its gorgeous cover. I’m determined to get around to reading it and finding out what everyone has been raving about.
What are you looking forward to reading this Fall?

The Book of Forgotten Authors looks really cool. I haven’t heard of it yet, but just the title and cover are enough to intrigue me!

Because it’s lots of short chapters about different ‘forgotten’ authors, it’s the sort of book you could dip in and out of. I can’t because I’ve got to read it for the blog tour!

I hope you enjoy Birdcage Walk, set not far away from where I live. The much missed Helen Dunmore is one of my favourite writers. I like the look of The Book of Forgotten Authors.

Oh, how interesting…so you know if she got all the details right then! I am looking forward to it but then I could say that about pretty much everything sitting on my bookshelves and Kindle….

The stretch of buildings that she based the novel on is one I’ve walked down many times.

I’d like to read New Boy but have been woefully behind in even picking up the Hogarth Shakespeare series.

I’ve had it for quite a while but doing this list made me realise it was one of the books I really want to read soon. I’m always interested in retellings or reinterpretations of classics.
